The “container moment” for eCommerce logistics.
One of the greatest breakthroughs in logistics was the cargo container system, which today moves over 95% of global trade. Its inventor, Malcom McLean, didn’t just build a better container, he created a cargo logistics system.
A system that allowed goods to move in containers, seamlessly between trucks, ships, and trains. The invention, intermodal transport without reloading the goods in the container.
Another major breakthrough was Kiva Systems (now Amazon Robotics) founded in 2003 by Mick Mountz, Peter Wurman, and Raffaello D’Andrea, where mobile robots transport entire shelves (“pods”) for Goods-to-person Picking.
At P8S, we extend the vision to fulfillment: creating a new, intelligent robot and container-based system where products move through storage, picking, and delivery. Seamlessly, efficiently, and fully automated.

Traditional retail relies on moving large volumes from producers to stores, a system built for supermarket replenishment with 40 –100 handling steps.
As online demand grows and labor becomes scarce, fulfillment must become more decentralized and automated.
